As many residents may be aware, there are ongoing issues regarding the plant hire firm, Rampling, operating from a site in Rectory Road, without the appropriate planning permission to do so. In May, the owners of the firm appeared before the Magistrates Court charged with breaching an enforcement notice – this notice was served in 2013 when existing planning permission expired and has not been complied with, meaning that the firm have been operating illegally.
The Magistrates Court determined that the owners should be prosecuted for non-compliance and they will stand trial at Chelmsford Crown Court on August 3rd.
Rampling have now submitted the outstanding plans for washing down vehicles that were required as part of their planning application to move to Rowhedge Business Park, and the Environment Agency are considering these.
We will update this site further as more news on this issue becomes available.
